  1. Tank update---the end of the nitrate war


    After months of raging the war on nitrates I decided to dosome major updates to my sump area. First was a new sump and stand to put iton. The sump I had just didn't allow for expansion and the stand wasn't makingthe grade either. Here is a shot of the old set up I should note that this asits in my basement tank room as the wife calls it.

    I'm folding laundry while watching tv when suddenly I hear some type of rumbling sound. Quickly pausing the show, i tried to ascertain the source of the noise, but none of the pumps sounded abnormal. I head over to the other end of the tank to check the Vortech pumps and it does sound like one is louder than expected, but not the noise I heard at first. As I peer into the dark reef, I see my red serpent starfish heading away like a wounded animal, pulling itself across the sand with four legs. ...

    Hello fellow Reef Addicts! My name is James and after a couple of weeks of reading others posts and listening to podcasts, I've decided to join in the fun!

    I'm fairly proficient at the id of reef animals, but I guess I'll get to what you want to know, my reef!
