  1. Midas Blenny Rescue

I intially sat down to seek help on how to get my Midas Blenny out of the back corner overflow. At some point last night the mischievous fellow made the jump into the overflow, and it must have been a perfect jump as there is not much of a gap between the screen that covers the tank and overflow wall.

My wife not only was the one to spot him in the overflow, but she devised the rescue plan and executed it. She worked with a net for about 5 minutes, then had me drop a few food pellets ...

  3. DIY LED fixture of fun (SOL rip off) part 4

Allot has been done since my last update and I’m happy to say the light is working! And hanging!

I made my black acrylic housings what allow for a piece of glass to slide in, this will protect from spray and splashing.

I used U channel aluminum to attach the 2 units together and hung it with my existing hanging kit from my old fixture.

  4. Every Reefers Worst Nightmare

This has been a very tough week.... My wife and I recently bought a second house, and decided to rent our old house to my wife's brother and his wife. I didn't want to move my 30g reef over to the new house till I had my new 75g up and cycled. My intent was to move everything over slowly and minimize the risk of losing any livestock. I have been going over to the old place to do water changes and maintenance about once or twice a week. Well i received a text the other day saying my sister in law ...

  5. Day 68: The latest changes

After having my new fish in quarantine for 10 days with no sign of illness, I decided it was best to move them into my reef tonight. During the QT period, one Chromis died early on, and yesterday one of the Helfrichi firefish was found dead and tattered. Since I'm about to fly out to Florida to speak to a club there, I didn't want to risk it with all those fish in a small water volume and no-one to change the water daily. All the fish were quick to eat at every feeding session, so they can hold ...
