  1. Working on the concrete (water heater plumbing)

Over the weekend, I tackled a relatively small project that turned into an exhausting task. The copper pipe that comes up out of the slab foundation feeds the water heater, and it had to be relocated. To do so, I had to cut out the concrete around those pipes, which allows for the necessary alterations that get the water heater completely out of the way once and for all (I hope!).

I rented a concrete cutting saw, and walled off the fishroom from the living room.

I drilled a hole in the top for the airline to go down into the water, and then drilled a hole ...

Now for the rest of the update

Its the weekend so work has been done, I glad to say the the outside of the fish room is 95% done. Still need to clear coat and cut a piece of trim, trim the rest of the basement and then save for carpet. But I did get paint on the walls, trim installed and have started on the inside. Bulkhead came in yesterday so I can soon start on the plumbing.

  5. Water change system 90% complete!

by , 08-12-2010 at 08:09 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I just finished placing my order for the second to last piece of our automatic water change system; a HDPE Heavy Duty Horizontal Leg tank. Last purchases are actual plumbing parts, but I've learned my lesson about pre-ordering before I've figured out 100% what I'm trying to accomplish.

I have to say though the 55g garbage containers we've been using since 2004/2005 have done us very well. I want to re-purpose them but can't figure out how. I may just offer them up for sale at a really ...
