I am building a frag tank out of 1/4" acrylic, the dimensions will be 14"x14"x6". The frag tank will sit on top of my sump and the light that is shining into the frag tank will shine through the tank into the refugium. My question is what size pump should I use for pumping water up from the sump? Also what is the ideal spot to put the output and over flow for maximum flow? here is a picture of my plan
Anyone tried this before? I am thinking about cutting some of my live rock in half, so that a smooth surface is created which could then form a nice stable base, or maybe glue nicely to a back wall or overflow. I thought this might be a fun way to get more creative with the aquascaping, while at the same time keeping the structure open and off the sand bed, preventing dead spots. I recently purchased a custom Marineland (Perfecto) 120g. This time, I decided to deviate from my norm, the painted black background, and try an interesting concept that I have seen posted in various reef forums. The purpose of the shadowbox is to have it back-lit behind the tank, and painted to give the illusion of depth in your tank, as in looking through the tank into the ocean. Finally, after almost a year between planning, prototyping, building and coding, my DIY LED fixture came to life. On Sept 6th the woodworking shop, LD Marcenaria delivered the new hood (they are very good, super recommend them to anyone living in São Paulo).
