  1. Papua New Guinea fish --- a look to the future

With the situations currently ongoing in Papua New Guinea, we've seen no livestock making it's way state side or out of the country for that matter. However there will be availability through some sources eventually, from who and where has yet to be determined, but the country is looking into the prospects and wants to see it happen.

So what's this post for then? I've been researching some of the absolutely amazing sea life coming from this area. I've really seen no other place with ...

  2. My Saltwater Mixing Station (Part 1)

I was recently inspired by a Reef Central thread, Salt Water Mixing Stations Let's See Them, to redo the way I mix saltwater. My goal was to make it easier to perform water changes by having a built in pump to send water upstairs to my tank rather than lugging buckets up and down the steps. Honestly that is my biggest deterrence to doing water changes, so if I can make them easier to perform, I will do them more frequently.

This is the design I wanted to make. It would allow me to ...

  4. Return Pump question.... gph

    Good Morning Reef Addicts,

I'm trying to figure out what size return pump is needed for my 120 gallon tank. I have a 5 foot delivery head on a 120 gallon tank with 2 mega overflows (Oceanic Ultimate Series), which are rated at 600gph each. I found a blurb on Marc's site that I should have a return gph pump of 3x to 5x the display tank. The Eheim 1260 has a 635 gph rating but at 5 feet of delivery head it brings it down to about 400gph. This makes it about 3.33x the display tank. But ...
  5. Cube of Fun Acrylic DIY Sump/Refugium

A couple weeks ago my father-in-law and I (he had the skills and tools, I had the vision and plan) tackled making a sump/refugium out of 1/4" acrylic. Following a couple online sources, including Melev's acrylic guide, we came out with a winner (my father-in-law still can't believe that we succeeded without any leaks).

Overall it is 27"long, 18.5" wide and 14.5" tall. It is split lengthwise with the left being the sump with skimmer and return pump and the right ...
