  1. NextReef SMR1 Bio Pellet Reactor

Thought I would share I just purchased the Next Reef SMR1 Bio Pellet Reactor from Saltysupply... I should recieve it toward the end of next week. I ordered it with the EcoBak ULNS Bio Pellets.

It took me forever to figure out what the flow requirements are for this, but a few phone calls later; the recommended flow rate is 350 GPH. So I also ordered a Mag 3; against my better judgment. I really wanted to throw an Eheim 1250 to it, but is rated at 320 GPH.

    Here is a couple ...

  2. How to make a sump out standard aquarium

I have owned all different kinds of sumps from Trickle to tub type, This unit is the easiest to do. I wanted a refugium included so Picked up a 55 gallon tank for my 55 gallon Aquarium. I figure the more water volume the better. There is reason to that thought but not a place for it in this blog.

I scored a older aquarium from a local dealer around here for 50 bucks. I had glass at the house already and know how to cut it , so I grabbed the old glass cutter layed the 1/4 inch down ...

  3. My Project

Well Iam little confused on how to do this and any feedback would be appreciated greatly. I have a ton of DIY I do, (kinda a habit from back in the day)
Some background. I been keeping reeftanks since 1978 or 9. Back then it was water changes almost daily with soft corals only. We used Plant grow lights light the aquarium and home made filters to keep things in check. So I still make quite bit of stuff, My largest tanks were dual 140's made of plywood back in the mid 80's. They crashed every ...

So this is what I'm thinking for the sump. I'm going to add the baffles to make the mini fuge area. I like fuges more for the critter growth than anything. I'm going to have to play with the ATO and return pump spacing once I figure out the skimmer I'm going to use. I want something that is quiet and small.

I'm going to have to do a lot of skimmer research as this is the first time I've had a tank with a sump! :-O

  5. Elos coral placement plan, ideas welcome

I originally wanted to take a purist approach and only house Clowns and BTAs, however, the more I looked at my rockscape the more I envisioned a SMALL variety of corals. I would hate to waste PAR and flow on an anemone that can adapt to low/low conditions, so here is a coral dream team.

Assorted BTAs on left side of tank
Zoas on the foreground "arm" of rocks
Table Acros right in the focal point, high flow, directly under lights.
    Monti Caps all down ...
