  1. Waters Flowing...

Well I have the baffles in and water flowing in the tank. I have to let the dust settle a bit before I do anything else. You can see it's quite cloudy. I have my cheep lighting on just so I can get a true measure of clarity. I've scrapped the in tank refgu. I'm going to use a 5g above the tank that I'll get to at a later date.

You can see all the temporary plumbing and filter sock that I'm using to clear the haze.

  3. Curing Live Rock

A week into my first experience curing LR and beginning to wonder if I'm doing it right. I bought 100 lbs of rock from a wholesaler in California and picked it up at the Seattle airport. I have placed the rock in a 30 gallon Rubbermaid trash can full of salt water (about .022 sg) and have a 600 lph submersible sitting on top of the rock with a pipe running to the bottom. I am heating the water to about 78 f. I can see water movement, but not as much as I expected. After a week the water is clear ...

  4. Skimmer advice?

I would like a skimmer recommendation. I need a new skimmer. I just set up a tank that is 150 to 200 total gallons. It will be a mixed reef and as of now I plan on feeding heavy to help growth. I also do not plan on many fish. I would like a good skimmer but dont want to break the bank. I just dont want junk. thanks.

  5. DIY Skimmer Pump

I take it everone has seen the mesh mod (DIY NEDDLEWHEEL) for a pump to turn it into a skimmer pump, my question is if anyone knows a local place or a substitute for the mesh product to use on this mod. Also to get air to the pump do you just use airline tubbing on the intake of the pump and just let it hang out of the water or is it better to use an airpump?
