A few pictures I took this evening

Rate this Entry
I took some pictures this evening so that I can have a photo record of the coral growth. I though I would share the pictures for those who might be interested. A few things I have noticed:
- They do not lie when they say birdsnest is a fast grower!
- The red planet frag I got was a light red when I got it. I placed it lower in the tank and it now has its trade mark green base and darker red branches.
- FYI and reminder, these are all under Aqua Illumination Sol Super Blue LED lights. I know there has been debate in the past on whether SPS could be grown under LED's, my experience thus far is that the tri-color acro, ora red planet, birdsnest and other sps's have all shown growth.

Curious, what do you feed the sun corals with that enclosure around them? How long do you leave the cone on?

    Your corals are looking good.

If you need me to delete those other images, I can. Just let me know.

reefocd - I feed the sun coral mysis and sometimes arctipods. I leave the cover over them for 15 - 20 mins. I plan on doing a bit more descriptive post about it soon.

melev - thanks, no need to take the extra pictures down at this point.

cyano - thanks, I always want to go to the fish store!

I need a shop that sells frags as beautiful as what you have, and I can only hope the uncured rock (cycling) in my new nano would ever have the beautiful hitchhikers you seem to encounter. The tanks lookin' sweet !

Most of my frags came from the Cleveland Saltwater Enthusiast Associations (C-Sea) annual frag swap held every April. You should check it out next year. It gets a very good turnout. Columbus has one in the fall that may be worth the trip too. Hope you get good hitchhikers!

Also, you might want to check out Tidal Gardens, http://www.tidalgardens.com/ . Several of my frags are from there (they were at the frag-swap and I have visited their location in Copley, not to far from Youngstown ). If you want to stop in you need to call or email and setup an appointment, they are very accommodating.

Thanks for the advise. I might just look into Tidal Gardens, for a closer source on better quality animals. I travel the pike to sources in PA. on occasion but time is very precious and hard to find (or make).
