Starting over with my tank!

My 75g RR Tank Build / Teardown

Rate this Entry
I decided to put the new tank where I the old tank was. So, the old tank had to move. What I did was put everything in a rubbermaid with two powerheads. I put the frags in a tupperware container. Corals on top! My T5's on top. Shrimps, crabs and snails on top of that. New stand is in place, all equipment is cleaned and wifes going to clean and paint tonight or tomorrow. Here is pictures:

Oh, and thats my little girl (Chihuahua) in the pics...Tia!

From what I can see everything is happy!

Okay, my reef can stay in the rubbermaid for a while right? I will do water changes and everything probably more often then before because no filter or skimmer. I will take more pic as I advance.

Yes, they will be okay in the rubbermaid as long as you stay on top of temperature and top off. Water changes as well, but you mentioned that already.

    Okay, thanks Marc!

Hey, my wife likes sand not crushed coral, I do too because it looks better. So, I was going to go with that in the new tank. What ya think?
  4. melev's Avatar
Yes, sand is the way to go.

Just remember that with the really fine sand you might have problems with your powerheads blowing it around. I'm dealing with that right now even though my Vortechs are as high as they can be without creating a vortex from the surface.

The fine sand will eventually settle down and bind to each other so you're not blowing it around. In fact if you don't have any sand stirring critters it can become like cement. I prefer a little courser sand, suger sand, not flour sand, mixed with some even courser 1-3mm size sand.

Yeah it's glowing pretty good... Lol. Not sure about easy, just hope the water perimeters will stay a little more stable.

Hat you really should sell the old tank and buy a new camera. My eyes don't like your camera.
  11. Hat39406's Avatar
Lol...it's an iphone I'm using to take pics all the time. Heh, sorry.
  12. melev's Avatar
Maybe you should get the iPhone 4 with the 5 megapixel camera and make Midnight happier. (Me too!)
  13. Hat39406's Avatar
Heh, shoot, I think that would make me happier too! ;-p. I love my iPhone.
  14. melev's Avatar
I preordered (or reserved) my iPhone 4 at Best Buy yesterday. They only had it in black it turns out - the white one comes out in August and I refuse to wait that long.

Lol...I hardly get on my desktop anymore, just to print something or add pics to this site, that's all. Heh. I'll probably get mine when it's upgrade time to get it a little cheaper. Man, I don't see how I live without my iPhone before. My wife has some other type of smart phone, it's nothing compared to mine though. I told her I was going to get her one soon. The only thing, I can't find an alarm on it, that's weird, does everything but don't have an alarm?

Only AT&T offers I-phone service here, and their coverage sucks. So I'm sticking with my little basic ACS phone for now. But I can make phone calls with it, and even text!
  17. melev's Avatar
Click on the Clock App that comes with your phone. It has a stop watch, alarm, timer. You haven't been keeping up with the latest. All kinds of offers out there now for people that hope to upgrade. Radio Shack will give you store credit (trade in) for your old phone that you can use toward the new one. The 16g is $199, the 32g is $299. If your eligible to upgrade in 2010, they are making it effective immediately instead of making you wait. That's because AT&T wants to keep their customers locked in for two more years before they flip to a different carrier subscription.

Phil, I'm hoping that the newer phone's better reception will help, but I do agree that coverage has been a problem. That's the one thing that aggravates me most.
  18. Hat39406's Avatar
Ahhh.. Then I should be ready for an upgrade. I'm going to check them out and see if the new functions on the phone is worth buying a new one.
