This LFS is the "Premier" store in Houston that we have to purchase from. They by far have the best selection available; however, they are very proud of their aquariums

Any opinion on the biospheres vs the vertex yet?

The tank is looking amazing! Glad I took the time to go back through some of the posts I've missed. :-)

Thanks Marc...I am at least one of the members that asked for more... and I still want more! How much flow do you estimate to the reactors? Are they daisy chained together or does each one receive its input from the manifold? The sump pictured here also has another side containing macro algae and a sand bed yes? What is the overall flow pattern in the entire fuge? How does the, I assume, lower flow volume through the fuge rejoin the remaining sump chambers?
Sorry so how, what, why, etc... but inquiring minds NEED to know!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

I am curious what they had to say about drilling holes in glass tanks as I have been told several times that aquariums over 20 gal. the glass has been tempered and you can not drill it?

I heard the same pitch,I don't know if you are using a reactor, if not try it, the material sticks or clumps with low flow.I tried slowing down the flow with the Aquamax with the same result. From what I can see the media is not wearing down that fast,if at all.I will attempt to measure how fast it wears out.

I purchased an Aquamax reactor about a month ago.For the price it seems to work pretty good.As with all these pellet reactors you have to put some serious flow through them. If the flow is not strong enough the pellets become "sticky" and start clumping.

Wait until Marc uploads the video, it's awesome.

I am going to have to get two or three of them.

There was 2 sizes one was for tanks up to 150 gallon. and the larger was 150-300 gallon. the smaller one had an MSRP of $65, I don't remember what the other went for.

They told me that Marine Depot carries them. After Marc told me about it, I had to get one myself.

I saw those at RAP on Saturday. They are awesome ! The way the bio-pellets swirl around the reactor is really cool. Great design.

I'll ask what the price is tomorrow. I know they have a larger reactor. Here's a picture of the internal base that creates that circular flow. I also shot a 15 second video to show you guys later.

How much are the new Aquamaxx reactors and what are they rated at?

On DFW sites and such, you give a layout of the sump with arrows. can you do that some time and give some dimensions and depths? i really like your current sump and may use its design (if thats ok?) but it would need tweaking for my situation.
    Thanks!!

(isnt your ER SKimmer a 12-2? 12-1 is 24" tall, 12-2 is 30" tall, 12-3 is 36" with 3 pumps. or is considered a 12-3 now with the upgraded Ehiem pumps?)
Do you like your skimmer, or do you plan on changing/upgrading/trying something different later? (does it still overflow like it did? and do you attest that to the pellets?)

The skimmer section is 8" deep and the return 7" deep.

Definately would like to know the acrylic question also.

Nice post, Marc... very clean setup. How deep is the water in each of your sections?

Cool Marc! I have used the it in outside, never thought of using it on the inside.

I remember reading about this a few years ago and it was in debate as to whether or not the material it's made out of was bad for the tank or not, apparently it's fine. It was first introduced as a way to prevent scratching the acrylic tanks while cleaning. So it must be fine for acrylic as well.

After reading some info on this, I am curious if there is a lot of foam produced from the eraser that enters the tank when cleaning the glass.
    http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov...ds&id=16003845
    Under First Aid it states the following;
If foam is ingested, contact a physician or veterinarian immediately. Intestinal blockage may be life threatening to some household pets.

Things that make you go Hmmm. :0)

    Cheers,
    Alex
