Tank Entry

Well, first let me start off with a big thank you to a few people who have helped me get the grasp and understanding of what I am diving into.. Those few people that I'd really like to mention are Jessy, SDguy (Peter), Nick_Kun, SDFishman (Justin), Rudy, and nahtanoj (Jonathan) all of whom (whether they knew it or not) have helped me out tremendously in my quest to start up this endeavor. All of whom I met thru SDReefs.

I also want to say thank you to my fiancée who has been very supportive ...

At Next Wave, our annual one-day conference, we fly in speakers and peruse the vendor's wares for stuff to bring home. I held out until the end, but after selling an item from my Reef Shop, I had cash to burn.

So I raced into the vendor's room to see what was left, and bought a bunch of goodies. Two of the vendors had a disaster; the airlines didn't ship the livestock on their flights, so they arrived and had nothing. Everything arrived around 1pm during our conference after ...

I decided to take a few pictures last night and these came out pretty nice.

Yeah, my display tank has a small leak. Luckily, not catastrophic, especially after just having the basement dry out from my last flood, lol! Tomorrow I have to move everything downstairs to my coral propagation and fish broodstock tanks and drain the display until we can find a replacement tank. Jon engineered the system so it can run without the display, so once the display is empty I just have to turn a ball valve before I fire the pump back up.

Still, this is not my ideal plan ...

as of last nite the aquarium was crystal clear and all tests were good except the nitrate had been running a little high which it has been for the last few weeks....got up this morning to a cloudy tank, slimy sides and almost all the fish gone...what could have caused this? when i tested the water this am...everything was sky high...
