  1. Leds to supplement T5? How?

I've a rimless reef aquarium without canopy, using an ATI Powermodule 6x54w T5 fixture. You can see some pics in my blog (it's also in english, in spite of I've to update it soon).

I'm thinking to supplement this with a LED bar in order to get the desired shimmer effect, not only for moonlight. The size of my tank is 120cm x 50cm x 50cm. What do you think it's the best option without fix it to the fixture, just put it over the tank?

Thanks in advance by your support. ...

  2. Light curves of my weather simulator

First day of vacations, not feeling well, spent most of the day either at the bathroom or sleeping.... at night I was feeling a little better, so I decided to work on the Arduino sketch, try to finalize v1.0 of it. Testing was still needed, so I proceeded with the test generating sample light curves for the various day types. By day type I mean "clear day", "cloudy day of various intensities", "thunderstorm day", each defined by an Okta number from 0 to 8.

  3. 50W LED Build

So a couple weeks ago i bought a 50W led array off ebay. I ordered the LED and Driver combo and a separate heatsink and 90 degree optic. The LED was listed as 20k color...... but its a cheap ebay LED so i dunno how accurate that color rating is. The parts were shipped from hong kong so it took a couple weeks to get here. I just got around to slapping it all together except for a power source for the heatsink fan. Its wicked bright and the color of the light looks bluish its definitely not real yellow. ...

  4. 75 Gallon-RR Update Lighting

So finally I decided to work on my lighting again. As most can recall I bought a Current USA 4-T5 light fixture. I took the canopy completely out and been running that fixture. But, the ultimate plan was to put that fixture in my canopy. Curent USA makes the fixture to fit in most canopies.

My son came over to visit me yesterday and he helped me put the fixture in the canopy. I have two 110 VHO bulbs in the front and now have the 4-54 watts T5s in the back.

  5. Ordered the new hood...

Thursday I put the order in for the new aquarium hood, with my favorite woodworking shop, LD Marcenaria (great quality, they built all my apartment to my design).

The sketch below shows the hood's design, it is high so my DIY LED fixture will fit inside it, with the controller and the power source above it (on the tray that crosses the middle). The controller is the glassy box on the tray, and the power source is the smaller gray box.
