I have questions that need answers.
Hey fellow addicts. I got a new 55 gallon pre drilled tank and stand that came with two holes in the bottom of the tank and came with two bulkheads and pipe. I have it all set up and need to figure what return pump I should get. Any advise? The overflow hole is 1.5" and the return is 1''.
With all the information on reef keeping online and on pages such as this one, I find myself wanting to try all sorts of new ideas. Lack of money is the biggest obstacle I am encountering in the hobby. I would love to start a propagation tank to supply my club members a place to store tiny frags of there most prized corals. This would also give me the opportunity to grow these corals out and bring frags to frag swaps and what not. I would love the hobby to be completely self sufficient, and oppose ...

I have a rock that I got from a friend that had some neat orange zoas on it. It also had a small carpet aneome on it as well. I put the rock in the tank and the carpet moved and the zoas are doing great, but within the past month or two of growth they have all started to change colors. Some are still orange but some have started to change to a pale blue when the actinics are on. They are all healthy and still growing. Is there a reason for the color change?
I recently purchased a used sump from an individual here locally. I needed a sump with smaller dimensions to fit below my 29 tall tank. (20 x 8 x 16) The previous owner liked this sump and swore it works great as is, however after mulling it over all night, I am begining to have reservations. As you can see in the included pics there are no chambers to the sump, just a sock holder and one giant area. He had the bottom filled with bio balls and the return pump attached externally. So I have about 10-15 small tufts of this crystal green looking algae in my tank. It looks very different than the green hair algae, to me at least. Anyone have any ideas what it is? I am talking bout the green tuft in the middle of the image
