  1. My 120 Desgin using sketch up

I started a build thread on reefcentral but decided to start posting what I have done on reefaddicts as well. Pictured bellow is the design. I used google’s free program sketchup to mock up what is going on in my head. The plan is two have a 120 display with a 20 gallon fuge on each side. The fuges will more be a planted aquarium and I plan on adding red mangroves as well.

  2. The other hobby

Just a quick update, since the tank is doing well and nothing really to report I though I'd share some success with my other hobby. Last Sunday I made the first flight in my Challenger II. This is a kit plane that I've been working on, off and on, for the last 5 years.

  3. Mad science strikes again! I made a prototype zapper.

After about a week of researching and thinking and reading some more I decided to try building a "zapper". I don't have any pest anemones but I've been looking for away to remove stray mushrooms without pulling the rock and chiseling them off. After all my reading and thinking I went out and got some supplies. I dug out some non-copper speaker wire and some used oxygen tubing out of my grandpa's garage. I purchased a 12V 600mA power supply, an on\off switch, marine epoxy, a carpenters ...

  4. T-4 days until the glass arrives

by , 11-22-2010 at 12:53 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
So its another nasty cold winter day here in town, we have some beautiful blowing snow, and some -30 weather. We kept busy, and warm, this past weekend by making one last trip to the dump, cleaning up the floor, getting all of our insulation into the tank room, and getting our blue board up. I also realized this morning that I forgot to buy a door for the tank room. I to buy one sooner rather then later I think.

The glass arrives on Friday, it will just be the tank glass for now. ...

  5. Shifting the tank into position

As you know, the Marineland 400g is pretty heavy. It took 8 of us to lift it into position and place it on the stand. It took four of us to carry the stand in. Combined, it's probably 1600 lbs. I'm home alone, and I want to shift it into position, aligned with the walls of the house.

Being an only child, the one thing I've always been good at is coming up with a way to do it myself and not wait until someone can come over. I appreciate the help, but I hate waiting if there's an ...
