  1. sump is ready?

    I think my sump is ready can you please check it out for me
    i used a 20 long height is 12"
    1st section is a divider of 8"
    bubble trap is 11" middle is 1" of bottom
    refuigm is 6" with eggcrate added.
    here are some pics

  2. New Tank

    Well I finally got to pick up my new tank this last weekend, bought it from Dallas North Aquariums. I've been meaning to post a couple pictures here but we had an unexpected emergency in the family over the weekend also, so it had to wait, my girlfriend's mom passed away in the Philippines so I had to get her and our son to California, then on to the Philippines as soon as I could.

    Now for the tank:

    It's a 60"X18.5"X19" tank, I guess about 90 gal, they ...

  3. Bubble Killer

    UPDATE
    OK guys & girls , got some updates to show you. Picked up a couple hole saws and got started DIY Bubble killer to reduce water splash/bubbles and noise in the sump. ..... If you've never seen a closeup of an arbor and hole saw, here it is.


    It fits most hand drill chucks. Note the alignment pins and threads on the arbor.

  4. DIY Cooling Fans

    I have been having an issue with heat build up and one easy way to deal with it (without getting a chiller) is to use fans. Fans on an aquarium help to increase evaporation, which cools the aquarium because some of the warm water is replaced with top off water. It does mean the top off water will be used more quickly, so if you go this route, be prepared to refill your top off reservoir more often.

    I decided to use some old computer fans as a method for introducing cooler air on top ...
