  1. 12 Hour Plumbing Session for my New 300 Gallon Custom & Work Sink!!!

    Howdy Everyone,

I just thought I would post another update for my new setup! This is part 1 of 2 for plumbing! I do not think the next session will take 12 hours, but you never know!

I also want to thank my good friend Ryan Vickers, Owner of Aquatic Dreams - http://www.aquaticdreamer.com/ - The only LFS I use. Ryan is mastermind behind all of this! (Or at least that is what I tell my wife!) He is more than some guy that owns a LFS he is a down to earth honest ...

  2. Vortech Pumps

Picked up a used MP40W last week from another member and then last night got a new EcoSmart MP40 and I have been playing with them ever since. Because I only have 1 EcoSmart pump I can not use any of the EcoSmart programs with both pumps so I have it setup currently in long pulse mode at about 80-85% power and 10sec pulse. I also have it go into night mode at about 10pm when all of my lights turn off. So I was just wondering what program everyone else is using and why?

  3. Time to change your RO/DI filters?

Is it time to change your RO/DI filters? I date my system each time they are changed out, to help me keep track. They should be changed every six months, so I'm actually a month late in doing so. Whoops. However, the TDS reads zero, so there's no reason to worry, right?

    Wrong.

After turning off the water source and opening the valve after the system to bleed off the pressure within, I removed ...

  4. Save $ on dosing pump with your weir type overflow

I've recently installed a weir type overflow on my 100g mixed reef, and due to some extenuating circumstances I wasn't really interested in even spending the $15 or so to pick up something along the lines of an aqualifter to pull air out of the device to keep the siphon going. My initial thought was to just run some airline from the nipple on the overflow down to the sump and just manually start a siphon and let it run. . .life is happy, right? Nope. I have a 2100gph flow powerhead right next ...

  5. Skimmer question

I am planning to use an Aqua-C EV-240 skimmer on my new 162 gal reef tank. I see that you can buy them with either a submersible pump or an external pump. If run with an external pump, does the skimmer then sit outside the sump?

Also, I would then need to runa separate external pump for the flow through the sump and fuge...correct. Do I factor in both pumps for total flow rate in tank?

I also hear of a lot of people running 2 return pumps, in case one goes bad, you have ...
