  1. More concrete work... urgh!

Dragging my feet on this project because frankly I've never done it before and didn't relish the idea of having to deal with it, I filled in where the concrete floor was too low. This was an important hurdle in my eyes, and I was dreading it. In the end, it wasn't awful, but then again I'm not entirely done. Here's how it went.

The metal stand is up on shims to get the stand and tank completely level. The slab was down nearly 1" at one corner, and any water spills would inevitably ...

  2. A few iphone pictures from some current efforts

The DIY continues unabated. I decided to get the garage side of the walls sheetrocked with 5/8" material (fire grade). That way I could soon use those walls to better use, hanging tools of them or simply using them to lean stuff against. The poofy insulation bats were annoying, and not helping keep the temperature in my house as well as it should.

It took a couple of hours one afternoon to get the pieces cut and installed.

  4. Life in the 75g, changeover finally complete, plus a 2nd tank!

Well this past weekend was the final push with finishing everything up on my new 75g reef ready tank. I'd like to say it went off without a hitch, but frankly it didn't, and I've had some losses since I started moving everything christmas weekend. Long story short, I should have given it a bit more time to cycle, or only moved 1 fish over at a time instead of all 4 from my 29g, as I had a small (1.0ppm at it's highest) nitrite only spike. Ammonia stayed a solid 0 the entire time, but that tiny bit ...

  5. 2011 is here, and I'm still ordering new stuff

Today, the package from EzTube arrived. I'll be able to get the light rack built soon, as well as install its suspension kit above.

Now that Savko is open for business again, I placed my order for all my plumbing needs. I still need to find 10' of 1.5" black spaflex, if any of you happen to have a source. They were all out.

I placed the order (acrylic) for my new sump, which will arrive tomorrow. I think I'll be building sumps all week for everyone.
